Turkish Defense Minister Highlights Turkey-Japan Bond at Naval Event Celebrating 100 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler emphasized the unique bond between Türkiye and Japan, calling for enhanced collaboration in security and defense to promote global peace. Speaking aboard the Japanese training ship Kashima in Istanbul, Guler marked the centennial of diplomatic relations between the two nations, highlighting their strong historical ties and mutual respect.

The reception, held at Sarayburnu Port, was attended by several dignitaries, including Japanese Ambassador Katsumata Takahiko, who noted the long history of naval exchanges between the countries. The Kashima and its sister ship, Shimakaze, are in Istanbul as part of the centennial celebrations and will be open to the public for visits this weekend.
