The Kenyan Embassy in Tokyo hosted the 77th Kenya Tea Seminar, organized in collaboration with the Japan Tea Association on October 3. The event welcomed 25 guests, including diplomats and industry stakeholders, to discuss key issues and opportunities within the Kenyan tea sector.

Ambassador Moi Lemoshira, Head of Mission, delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing the significance of tea as a vital export for Kenya and its role in enhancing bilateral relations with Japan. The seminar featured notable speakers, including Ms. Masayo Hiraiwa, Kenya Tourism Goodwill Ambassador, who introduced participants to Kenyan culture and the Kiswahili language.

Additionally, Ms. Hisako Tomizuka from Kenya-Japan Friendship on Trade Co., Ltd. presented insights into the high-quality Kenyan teas cultivated by small-scale farmers in the Githongo region of Meru County. Her presentation highlighted the importance of supporting local farmers and promoting sustainable practices within the industry.

The embassy reiterated its commitment to collaborating with Japanese stakeholders to promote Kenyan products and increase bilateral trade. Among those in attendance were Ambassador Arthur Andambi, Deputy Head of Mission, and Ms. Naoko Yagi, Trade Assistant.

This seminar not only served as a platform for discussing market trends and quality improvement but also reinforced the enduring friendship between Kenya and Japan through cultural exchange and cooperation in trade.
