Japan and Germany Celebrate 50 Years of Science and Technology Cooperation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Federal Ministry of Germany commemorated last Sunday the 50th anniversary of their Agreement on Cooperation in the field of Science and Technology in Kyoto. Signed on October 8, 1974, this landmark agreement has fostered significant collaboration between the two nations over the past five decades.

The jubilee event coincided with the 21st Annual Meeting of the Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum, attracting over a hundred participants from both countries’ science and technology sectors. Key figures at the event included Ms. Kaji Misako, Japan’s Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, and Mr. Kiuchi Minoru, Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy.

During the celebration, speakers expressed their gratitude for the enduring partnership and emphasized a strong commitment to future cooperation in research and innovation.
