From November 2 to December 1, 2024, the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, in collaboration with the Komura Jutaro Memorial Hall, will host a special exhibition titled “Komura Jutaro and the Treaty of Portsmouth.” This significant exhibition will feature the original Treaty of Portsmouth, which formally ended the Russo-Japanese War on September 5, 1905.
The exhibition aims to highlight the pivotal role played by Komura Jutaro, Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs at the time, in negotiating the treaty. The treaty not only marked a turning point in Japan’s international relations but also established Japan as a formidable power on the global stage.
