The floods, caused by torrential rains on October 29-30, have resulted in significant loss of life and widespread destruction.
Prime Minister Ishiba conveyed his sorrow in a message addressed to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, expressing deep grief over the loss of many lives and the ongoing search for missing individuals. “On behalf of the Japanese government and people, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families,” he stated, while also offering prayers for a swift recovery and reconstruction in the affected areas.
Similarly, Foreign Minister Iwaya sent a message to Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, echoing sentiments of sympathy for those impacted by the disaster. He emphasized Japan’s solidarity with Spain during this challenging time and expressed hope for a prompt recovery for all affected communities.
