The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, in collaboration with Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, has announced a two-day study tour for the diplomatic corps stationed in Japan, scheduled for November 18 and 19, 2024. This annual initiative, which has been ongoing since 2010, aims to showcase the diverse attractions of Japan’s regional areas to foreign diplomats.

Under the theme “Sano City Tour to Experience the Charms of All Areas, Past and Present,” this year marks the 20th anniversary of Sano’s municipality. Participants will explore various attractions that highlight the city’s unique offerings, including its local products, food, tourism opportunities, and sports.

The upcoming study tour in Sano City will feature a variety of attractions, including the Sano International Cricket Ground, Oguri Sansou, Wakabayashi Foundry Office (Tenmyo Casting), Daiichi Sake Brewery Inc., Sano City Tourism and Products Center, Hotel Ichinokan, Akiyama Gakuryo (Ramen Making Experience), Yoshizawa Lime Industry Co., Ltd., Kuzu Fossil Museum, and Michi no Eki Domannaka Tanuma (Roadside Station).

This study tour is expected to deepen the understanding of Sano City’s unique attractions among diplomatic representatives and promote cultural exchanges between Sano City and their respective countries. Through this initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues its efforts to showcase Japan’s regional diversity on the international stage.
