The Algerian Embassy in Tokyo hosted on Friday a lecture by Professor Etsuko Aoyagi, Emeritus Professor at the University of Tsukuba and member of the Japan-Algeria Friendship Association. Titled “Manga Creation in Algeria Today: A Study of Its Characteristics and Significance,” the event explored the rise of manga as a popular cultural phenomenon among Algerian youth.
Professor Aoyagi, a regular participant in the Algiers International Comics Festival (FIBDA) since 2021, highlighted the widespread popularity of manga creation in Algeria over the past 15 years. She analyzed its unique characteristics and significance, shedding light on its growing influence in the country’s artistic and cultural landscape.
