The city of Susaki in Kochi Prefecture hosted another successful Czech cuisine cooking class, led by Chef Leoš Kastl from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo. Building on the positive reception from last year’s event, the class was organized with the support of the Susaki City government and attracted around 30 participants, including returning attendees from the previous year.
Chef Kastl, who has worked in prestigious hotels in Prague and has been the head chef at the Czech Embassy in Tokyo since 2022, guided participants through the preparation of traditional Czech dishes. The menu featured potato soup with mushrooms and marjoram, beer-braised pork roast with potato pancakes and cabbage, and strawberry dumplings for dessert.
The event was warmly welcomed by Susaki Mayor Kousaku Kusunose and local organizers, who also introduced Chef Kastl to the city’s unique local food products, particularly its renowned fish dishes. The cooking class not only showcased Czech culinary traditions but also strengthened cultural ties between the Czech Republic and Japan.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic plans to continue organizing similar events to further promote Czech culture and deepen the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.
