The Embassy of Finland in Tokyo will outsource the submission of residence permit applications from 27 March to an application center operated by VFS Global. Visa applications will follow suit, with services beginning on April 15. Applicants must visit the center in person for identification and biometric data collection, and all services will be available by appointment only.
Residence permit applications can be submitted online via the Finnish Immigration Service’s portal, while visa applications are processed through the Finland Visa website. The Embassy will handle pre-scheduled appointments until March 26 for residence permits and April 9 for visas.
A service fee of around 3,000 yen will apply in addition to standard application fees. The new application center is located at Hamarikyu Parkside Place Bldg. 8F, Tokyo, with a dedicated website and call center launching on March 13.
This move aims to streamline the application process and improve service efficiency for applicants in Japan.
