Íñigo de Palacio has officially assumed his role as Spain’s new Ambassador to Japan, following his recent arrival in Tokyo. His appointment, approved by the Spanish Council of Ministers, marks a new chapter in Spain-Japan relations.
De Palacio brings a wealth of diplomatic experience, having previously served as Spain’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, where he played a pivotal role in the success of Expo Dubai 2020. A law graduate and career diplomat since 1983, he has held key positions in Bolivia, Morocco, Brazil, and the United Nations in Geneva, as well as serving as Ambassador to Serbia and Chile.
In Japan, De Palacio is expected to strengthen bilateral ties and promote Spain’s interests in areas such as trade, technology, and cultural exchange. His arrival underscores Spain’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Japan.
