State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Miyaji Takuma, received a courtesy call today from H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, Board Chair of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). During the 40-minute meeting, State Minister Miyaji commended GPE’s efforts in improving basic education, which aligns with Japan’s focus on human security.
State Minister Miyaji expressed Japan’s desire to enhance collaboration with GPE, particularly through the upcoming 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Yokohama this August. In response, Chair Kikwete thanked Japan for its contributions and expressed hope for Japan’s increased role in addressing the growing demand for educational assistance.
Both sides agreed on the importance of international education cooperation and pledged to continue working closely, including at TICAD 9. GPE, established in 2002, supports education in developing countries through a partnership of governments, institutions, and private entities.
