Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya, held yesterday evening a 30-minute telephone conversation with Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The discussion focused on bilateral relations, regional developments, and Iran’s nuclear activities, underscoring the importance of diplomacy and dialogue.
Minister Iwaya expressed deep concern over the current situation surrounding Iran, particularly its nuclear program, and emphasized the need for constructive and concrete actions to advance peaceful resolutions. He highlighted the importance of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and reiterated Japan’s commitment to diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stability.
Minister Araghchi thanked Minister Iwaya for his Nowruz and Solar New Year wishes and reaffirmed Iran’s dedication to maintaining long-standing friendly relations with Japan. He also explained Iran’s position and efforts regarding its nuclear activities, emphasizing the peaceful nature of its program.
Both ministers agreed to continue multilayered dialogue, including at the foreign ministerial level, and to plan a meeting between their senior deputy ministers. This exchange reflects the shared commitment of Japan and Iran to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting peace and stability in the region.
