Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Fukushima Prefectural Government organized a study tour on 5 March 2024 for Tokyo-based diplomats to Naraha Machi and Iwaki City in Fukushima. The tour showcased the region’s advanced efforts in renewable energy and decarbonization, key pillars of Fukushima’s recovery.
Participants visited Toyotsu Lithium Corporation, Sumiko Energy Materials Corporation, and Asaka Riken Co., highlighting Fukushima’s role in producing lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (EVs). The tour also included J-Village, a symbol of Fukushima’s revitalization.
The event aimed to promote global awareness of Fukushima’s progress in building a decarbonized society and its contributions to sustainable energy solutions.
