Mongolian Foreign Minister Visits Japan to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Batmunkh Battsetseg, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, yesterday paid courtesy calls to Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba during her official visit to Japan. The meetings underscored the commitment of both nations to deepening their “special strategic partnership” and advancing bilateral cooperation.

During her meeting with Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi, Minister Battsetseg emphasized the importance of Japan as Mongolia’s “third neighbor” and expressed her desire to further strengthen ties through regional and educational exchanges. Both sides also discussed the upcoming visit of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan to Mongolia, with Minister Battsetseg pledging thorough preparations to ensure its success.

In her meeting with Prime Minister Ishiba, the Mongolian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Japan’s consistent support since Mongolia’s democratization in 1990. Prime Minister Ishiba reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Mongolia and enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in areas of shared values and strategic interests.

Both meetings also addressed the issue of abductions, with Japanese officials requesting Mongolia’s understanding and cooperation, which Minister Battsetseg pledged to support.

The visit highlighted the strong and growing partnership between Japan and Mongolia, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to fostering mutual growth and regional stability.
