Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano has emphasized the importance of her country’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, describing it as a key platform to enhance the Philippines’ soft power, cultural diplomacy, and economic engagement with Japan and the global community. Speaking at a press gathering at the Official Residence, Garcia-Albano highlighted that the Philippine pavilion will showcase the nation’s rich cultural heritage, attract investment, and foster trade opportunities.

“The Philippines remains committed to working with its partners through every available framework to address the pressing challenges of our time. Amidst geopolitical shifts throughout its 174-year history, the World Expo has served as a platform not only for scientific and technological advancements but also for promoting international cooperation” Garcia-Albano stated. “The Philippines’ participation in World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai is a strong expression of its unwavering commitment to global engagement and its support for Japan’s initiatives on sustainability and economic progress.”

The Philippine pavilion, designed as an experiential journey across the country’s 7,641 islands, will honor Filipino weaving communities. Notably, the pavilion has been created with sustainability in mind and will be repurposed for cultural exhibitions at the National Museum of the Philippines after the Expo.

This initiative underscores the Philippines’ dedication to strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties with Japan while promoting its unique identity on the global stage.
