Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba hosted an Iftar dinner last Friday at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tokyo, welcoming ambassadors and representatives from 45 Muslim countries and regions. The event, held during the holy month of Ramadan, aimed to deepen the bonds of trust and friendship between Japan and Muslim nations.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Ishiba emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with Muslim countries, particularly amid global challenges. He also expressed Japan’s commitment to supporting peace in the Middle East, including efforts toward a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, and improving the region’s humanitarian situation.
The Iftar was attended by high-ranking Japanese officials, including Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, as well as members of the Japanese Diet. Prime Minister Ishiba also highlighted Japan’s upcoming Osaka/Kansai Expo, inviting broader international participation.
This annual event underscores Japan’s dedication to fostering cultural understanding and diplomatic collaboration with the Muslim world.
